Finding the best facial scrub can be hard if you don’t know what you are looking for.
Luckily, I am reviewing these 3 products for you. The main things I was looking for in all the products I tested was making sure none of them contained tiny plastic beads, commonly called microbeads and no harmful chemicals in their ingredients list.
Since they are nocive for the environment, many countries have decided to ban those beads in cosmetic products. Some countries are still advocating for a ban in the next years or so. Netherlands, Canada, Ireland, the UK and the USA are the main countries regulating or in talks to regulate the use of microbeads in cosmetics, including, body and facial scrub or toothpaste. My Favorite Facial Scrubs
Here are my top 3 facial scrubs. They are sorted from the cheapest to the priciest.
This one is my favorite when looking for a small budget product. It contains non harmful chemicals
and you can buy it almost everywhere for $10 or less. It leaves your face fresh without drying it. The texture is perfect for a scrub and gentle enough for daily usage on your face.
Note that in any case, you should use a body or facial scrub each week, but no more than 3 times a week.
I really like the fact that is does not contain any harsh chemicals, sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, dyes or phtalates. That’s something I really look forward to when buying most of my cosmetic products.
If you look the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub on the Think Dirty app, it would score a 3 for its ingredients list which would be great (0 being the best score and 10 the worst for the safety of the ingredients that composed a given product). Sadly, the addition of fragrance in its ingredients brings its score to 9. If you don’t mind products containing fragrance, I highly recommand the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub.
And your wallet will thank you too!
My favorite facial exfoliator on the list is the Jouviance Gentle Purifying Scrub.
It is harsh enough so when you use it you feel like it works. I like when a scurb is not too gentle. Its texture is similar to the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub and it does not contain parabens, sulphates, phthalates, mineral oils, colourants, artificial fragrances, animal-based or potentially irritation‑causing ingredients, according to their website.
The plastic microbeads are replaced by organic bamboo micro-pearls and organic olive seeds powder which is great for the environment.
It is more pricey than the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub but it contains no fragrance in its ingredients list. Another point on the pro’s list. It is a Canadian product, which is great, but you can find it at CVS pharmacy if you live in the United States. You can expect to pay between $22 and $25 for this product whether you live in North or South of the border.
It is more pricey than the two other scrubs I reviewed. You can buy it for about $35 USD.
Its texture is also very different. This one is, as its name discloses it, creamier. It is less harsh on your face. You feels the non-abrasive jojoba beads as you apply the product to your face but it feels more like a cream cleanser containing beads than an exfoliator. In any case, the Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Exfoliator really lets my face super soft afterwards.
I think its texture and ingredients list are the most pro’s for buying this scrub.
Which Facial Scrub I Should Buy?
Whether you choose the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub, the Jouviance Gentle Purifying Scrub or the Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Exfoliator, you are sure you have a good product that works.
All you have to do is decide which texture you like the most and how much you are willing to pay for this indispensable cosmetic product every men and women should use at least once a week.
